The UFC returns to Las Vegas this weekend as UFC Fight Night: Gamrot vs. Salkilld takes over the Meta APEX on Saturday, August 8. The action begins with the prelims at 5:00 p.m. ET before the main card gets underway at 8:00 p.m. ET on Paramount+.
The main event brings together two lightweights trending in different directions as veteran contender Mateusz Gamrot takes on unbeaten riser Quillan Salkilld. Gamrot enters the weekend ranked No. 6 in the lightweight division, while Salkilld sits at No. 9 after quickly climbing the ladder during an undefeated start to his UFC career.
Salkilld has gone 5-0 since joining the promotion, recording four finishes and earning four Performance of the Night bonuses along the way. His latest win came in May when he stopped Beneil Dariush with punches in the opening round, continuing a run that has also included finishes of Jamie Mullarkey, Nasrat Haqparast and Anshul Jubli.
Gamrot, meanwhile, brings considerably more experience into Saturday’s main event. The Polish vet has gone 9-4 in the UFC and owns wins over names including Arman Tsarukyan, Rafael Fiziev and Rafael dos Anjos. Consistency has been harder to find recently, however, with Gamrot splitting his last four fights. Most recently, he rebounded from an October loss to Charles Oliveira by submitting Esteban Ribovics at UFC 327 in April.
The rest of Saturday’s card includes a lightweight matchup between Diego Ferreira and Billy Quarantillo, a women’s strawweight bout featuring Amanda Lemos and Alexia Thainara, and veteran featherweight Darren Elkins facing Yadier DelValle. Elkins is set to make his final UFC appearance after more than 15 years with the promotion.
